The Greenwave swim team is competing in the North Region 3A meet this week in Carson City, where the top four swimmers from each event advance to next week’s state meet.

Swimming starts at 2:30 p.m. on Friday and 10:15 a.m. on Saturday. The top four individual runners-up and the top four relay teams from each event advance to the state.
Fallon has several Top 25 ranked swimmers in the region, with a select few having times that could push them into national competition.
On the boys’ side, senior James Cosman has a chance in three events – 200-metre freestyle, 500 freestyle and 200 individual medley. Cosman is fourth in the 500 freestyle at 5 minutes 15.09 seconds, while he is less than 9 seconds behind the top four in the other two events.
Junior Danner Rowlett is ranked No. 1 in the 50 breaststroke at 38.99, and second Macray O’Neill is fourth in the 50 backstroke at 34.74. Sophomore Zachary Koenig is within reach in four of his events with his best chance in the 50 freestyle where he is less than 3 seconds behind the top four with a time of 25.39. Koenig is ranked in the top eight in the 100 freestyle (56.70), 100 backstroke (1:04.32) and 100 breaststroke (1:09.22).
On the girls’ side, sophomore Claudia Garcia Barbudo placed third in the 50 breaststroke at 45.93 and fourth in the 50 butterfly at 43.48. Junior Rebecca Smith is ranked third in the 50 backstroke at 38.79.
Junior Evelyn O’Neill needs to save 4 seconds on her time of 1:04.42 in the 100 freestyle and also in the 100 backstroke (1:14.75) to qualify.
