The Team H2O swimming club back in action

Team H2O Swimming Club is a registered club of Swimming South Africa (SSA) and Eastern Gauteng Aquatics (EGA).
They compete each month in various age group galas.
Coach Heather Grafe said they are back in training to compete in the regional championships in March.

Ethan Murray, Jessica Scorgie and Michaela Mentos are level one swimmers.

“Swimmers must swim multiple galas throughout the season and achieve the level twice set by the SSA. Once swimmers achieve this goal, they compete in the SSA Tier Two Regional Championships, which will be held March 11-13 at the Delville Pool in Germiston,” Grafe said.
She told the announcer that for the past two years they haven’t competed due to the pandemic, but now they’re back and ready to swim and win.

“Team H2O has four swimmers who have reached their level twice and will compete at the championships,” she said.
The Midmar Mile is also organized at the beginning of the year for swimming teams.
“The Midmar Mile is approximately 1.6 km long and is held every February at the Midmar Dam, north of Pietermaritzburg. Each year, this event attracts thousands of competitors ranging from serious international athletes and Olympic medalists to recreational swimmers.

“Guinness World Records recognized the race as the greatest open water swimming event in the world. The H2O team competed again and came back with medals,” she said.
