This year (2022) is a very special year for us here at North Bristol Swim Club (BNSC) as we celebrate our 100th anniversary, and we have a lot to do to mark the occasion!

We kicked off the year with a limited edition team kit with a gold twist on our classic kit design. Check out our Masters team proudly sporting their centenary hats at the Welsh National Long Course Championships (pictured above).

As we approach spring, we are reaching out to our local community to donate 100 volunteer hours to local organizations and charities. We are proud members of the North Bristol community, and as we celebrate this anniversary, we want to give back to our neighbours. If you are in or know of any bands that could benefit from a few extra pairs of hands, reach out to Steph via [email protected]

Over the summer we will bring together past and present members to celebrate as one Bristol North family with our biggest barbecue yet. We’ll also be back in the pool as our club captains coordinate what could be Bristol North’s first-ever 100-man relay!

In the fall, we’ll invite local clubs to join us for a fun Centennial Gala, before wrapping up the year with a special Winter Ball to celebrate our swimmers’ successes in 2022.

Throughout the year, we throw the gauntlet to our members so that they collectively complete 100 challenges in the way they want. A few of our lifeguards are taking to the open water to complete their challenge in the form of a 10km swim, while others are looking to compete in ten parkruns. We can’t wait to see what other club members come up with from their challenges, but we know they’re going to be tough.

If you, or someone you know with a connection to the BNSC, has old photos or stories you would like to share with us, we would love to hear from you. Sharing and celebrating our past will help our club today continue to grow and prosper for another 100 years.
