St Albans Town Swimming Club caused a stir with fantastic performances, medals and times in a regional championship.
The culmination of the East of England Region Pool Swimming Championships, held over two weekends in Norwich and Luton, saw CoSTa win a total of medals, including four gold.
Leading the gold rush, Daniel Holliss won the 100m and 200m breaststroke for 16-year-olds.
Nathanial Mapley won gold in the 50m backstroke and he and Holliss were part of the 14/16 year old boys 4x100m individual medley relay team that took the top spot on the podium.
Alexander Kalverboer and Andrew Tembra completed the team, swimming the backstroke and freestyle stages.
The foursome also took silver in the 4x100m freestyle relay while Mapley added silver in the 100m backstroke.
Holliss was back to take bronze in the 50m breaststroke and the same color medal was also won by Florence Crowley (16, 200m butterfly), William Loveman (17, 200m breaststroke) and Tigerlily Donald (14) 50m butterfly).
Crowley also established a PB.
A club spokesperson said: “The club’s head coaches congratulated all the swimmers who took part in this year’s championships, adding that there were some outstanding swims throughout and although not everyone couldn’t finish or win a medal this time, they’re sure with the amount of dedication all CoSta swimmers put into their training that it’s only a matter of time that they’ll be the ones holding the medals .”
CoSta organizes free initiation sessions throughout the year for children in school year groups 2, 3 and 4.
