Sligo Swimming Club record fantastic National Championship results

County Sligo Swimming Club had a strong contingent of swimmers attending the Irish National Division 2 Championship Gala, sending a team of 13 to Munster.

he gala took place at the University of Limerick last week.

It’s one of the biggest events of the swimming season and the bar is set high. Only swimmers who have achieved a qualifying time can participate.

Under the guidance of coaches Martin J McGann and PJ Langton, the team performed well during the 5 day event.

Five bronze medals with 24 top-ten performances and a significant number of personal bests (PBs) were achieved.

Given the nature of swimming with times in milliseconds, a swimmer is not only competing against others in the pool, but also their own personal PB and the extra time gains are a reward for all the hard work at training throughout the year, aided by coaching. crew.

It’s a fantastic achievement for the club, especially given the level of competition and shows that the club is getting better and better.

Even more important was the enjoyment of all participants, which is certainly one of the priorities of amateur sport.
