A SWIMMING club received money to expand its volunteer supply.
Overton-based Lordsfield Swimming Club have received £2,500 from the Hampshire Playing Fields Fund.
The swimming club offers outdoor swimming activities for local residents, as well as training lessons for children and is supported by a team of volunteers; the money received by the club will be used to develop its supply of volunteers.
Tania Bridge, Trustee of Lordsfield Swimming Club, said: “This grant will enable us to run a full session program in 2022 and train 60 volunteers to support pool sessions.
“Using volunteers means we can keep our prices low, which allows local families to have equitable access, which increases accessibility for all.
“Outdoor swimming is a great activity for fitness and wellness, and we look forward to working with residents to keep the community swimming!”
The money the swim club received was just one of the grants awarded this month; A total of £20,768 was distributed in grants between £500 and £2,500 by the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Community Foundation, the largest specialist grantmaking body in Hampshire and the Isle of Wight. Weight.
Grants were awarded to support outdoor activities, outdoor spaces, games and sports.

“We are particularly keen to ensure that this funding benefits those who are disadvantaged in their lives, such as people with disabilities of all kinds, and those facing mental health issues and social isolation.
“The Hampshire Playing Fields Fund means we can provide organizations like Lordsfield Swimming Club with the means to achieve a better and more sustainable future while increasing the participation of people from a wide variety of backgrounds.”
