Welcome to pre-registration for the 2022 Hartwick College Competitive Swim Camp! After celebrating our 40th anniversary in 2019, we are delighted to be able to offer the Hartwick College Swimming and Diving Competitive Camp this summer after a two-year hiatus due to the Covid-19 pandemic. This summer, the College will offer three sessions of the competitive swim camp. The dive camp will take place at the same time as session III. Each session will run from Sunday to Friday.

COVID-19 CAMP INFORMATION

  • All camp staff will be up to date with their COVID-19 vaccinations (completed primary vaccine series plus a booster dose).
  • All campers must be up to date with their COVID-19 vaccinations before the first day of camp.
    • Children under 12 must have completed their primary series plus 14 days.
    • Children 12 years and older must be current on their primary series (2nd dose plus 14 days) or, if eligible, have received their booster.
  • Parents/guardians accompanying the camper must be able to present an up-to-date vaccination record.
  • Daily screening for COVID-19 symptoms and temperature checks will take place for all campers and camp staff.
  • Anyone with COVID-like symptoms will be separated from the group and must be picked up within 24 hours of notification.

The registration form and parent/camper kit, including health/vaccination forms and camper checklist, will be available soon. A non-refundable deposit will be required when full registration opens. Parents who have submitted the pre-registration interest form will be notified as soon as registration is open and the parent/camper file is available.

DESCRIPTION OF THE SUMMER 2022 PROGRAM
Now in its 41st summer, Hartwick College’s Competitive Swim Camps are intended to provide male and female swimmers ages 9-18 with the opportunity to develop skills and techniques under the guidance of a highly qualified coaching staff. qualified. The registration limit guarantees individual attention (1:5 ratio, staff to camper).

the first session will be a swimming techniques camp that will allow competitive swimmers to develop skills and techniques in starts, turns, the individual medley and the 4 competitive strokes.

the second session will be the running technique, sprint and distance camp, which focuses on running techniques, physical conditioning, proper training as well as race strategies for sprint, race, half -bottom and distance.

the third session going to be a Swimming training camp with swimming technique and 1M & 3M Diving Camp.

  • Swimming training camp with swimming technique will emphasize conditioning through swimming drills, dry land exercises and strength training. This session will also include training key energy systems as well as running strategies for sprint, running, middle distance and distance events.
  • 1M & 3M Diving Camp will provide 1 meter and 3 meter springboard diving with dry board and trampoline.

Designed for serious swimmers, the camp teaches the latest swimming skills in a fun setting. Relaxation time is provided.

The camp will help swimmers learn the mental and physical aspects of competition preparation, as well as all new technical aspects of competitive swimming (strokes, starts and turns). Training includes lactose tolerance, anaerobic threshold, maximal oxygen uptake, and running speed and pace training.

The camp also focuses on swimming psychology, nutrition, dry land training, strength training, relaxation and visualization. Individual race work and video analysis above and below the water are also part of the program.

Respected coaches from USS, YMCA, high schools, and colleges provide one-on-one guidance and instruction during camp, with reviews written in each camper’s logbook and individual analysis of video recordings above and under water with each stroke.

Team discounts are available. Prior to club/school team members registering for camp, the club/school team head coach should contact Camp Director Dale Rothenberger and provide the following information:

  • club name
  • full names of club members present (minimum of 10)
  • swimming session which all club members will attend

The Hartwick College Competitive Swim and Dive Camp will operate in full compliance with CDC and New York State Department of Health guidelines, and will also comply with Otsego County and College requirements. Please note that while we plan to offer Competitive Swimming and Diving Camp in the summer of 2022, we will immediately alert all enrollees if a change in the pandemic causes Hartwick College to close or limit programming on the campus.

Per NCAA rules, all athletic camps and clinics hosted by Hartwick College are open to all participants and registration is limited only by age, grade, gender, or restrictions. number specified by each side. NCAA guidelines prohibit the payment of camp expenses (e.g., transportation, camp fees, spending money, etc.) by a representative of Hartwick College athletic interests. NCAA rules also prohibit free or reduced camp admission for prospects (9th grade and up).
