THIEF RIVER FALLS – The Detroit Lakes women’s swimming and diving team earned their first victory of the season Tuesday against Thief River Falls.
The Lakers took first place in seven of 11 contests in a 90-80 win over the Prowlers.
Faith Hamm won two individual freestyle events. She took first place in the 200-yard dash with a time of 2:10.44. She also clocked under six minutes in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:55.75 for first place. Hamm also anchored the 200 (1:49.70) and 400 yard (4:10.20) freestyle events with Marin Westrum, Rylie Wendt and Quinn Rogstad.
Westrum was also involved in two other best times. She took first place in the 100-yard IM (2:36.77) and 100-yard butterfly (1:09.52). Her too
Marian Martin clocked the fastest 100-yard butterfly in 1:20.22. She also swam the return leg of the 200-yard medley relay with Hanna Barberg, Emily Peterson and Sydney Miller, who finished second in 2:17.01.
The Lakers will travel to Crookston on September 15.
